Collaboration with James Crabb, project leader.
Started in 2004 as a part of the Australian tour of the Australian Chamber
orchestra, Tango Jam presents the very best of Astor Piazzolla’s music for quintet.
Founding members are James Crabb, Richard Tognetti, Maxim Bibeau, Benjamin
Martin and George Vassilev. After recoding the CD “Tango Jam Vol. 1” for Mulberry
Hill Production and the movie “The Essential Sessions - Piazzolla’s Quintets” for
R.B. Films Ltd, the project has toured in different Festivals in Europe such as
Deventer - Holland, Maribor - Slovenia, Frederiksværk, Frederiksborg, Hillerod and
Copenhagen, Denmark. Further collaboration between James Crabb and George
Vassilev includes duo program as well as the performance of Astor Piazzolla’s Opera
“Maria de Buenos Aires “ which has been produced by the Royal Danish Theater
as the opening project (of the Takellofte Stage) of new Opera House in Copenhagen.
